When I started my LED lighting business in 2003, and being a scientist and engineer, I knew I needed help. Fortunately for me I found Carl Kalin. Carl’s sales and marketing skills, backed up by solid technical chops, provided a vital underpinning to the startup. Carl developed a marketing plan and executed it, quickly becoming the Company’s VP of Sales & Marketing.
By signing up sales reps around the country, we were able to grow rapidly by leveraging the skills of a small core team of employees. We signed up several large national accounts and developed and manufactured products for companies vastly larger than ourselves. We could not have done this without Carl’s focused approach and unfailing determination.
As a young cash-constrained company, Carl was an important part of the team, helping to position the company to raise capital from venture firms. Developing detailed business plans, giving presentations, and satisfying the due diligence requirements of investors all proved important to raising the capital needed to grow the company into a multi-million dollar business.
